Beaches, Birds and Balance
Windang is an aboriginal word meaning ‘scene of flight’ possibly after the varied and plentiful bird life that call Lake Illawarra and the five island off the coast home. A little gem hidden along the coast it offers a beautiful beach, spectacular lake and pleasure parklands. This is a location for an old school holiday filled with fishing, swimming, kayaking and generally playing in the sun and surf. Away from the hustle and bustle this is a place to disconnect from modern life and reconnect to nature.
If you need a caffeine fix or groceries there is a shopping centre five minutes away or the delights of Shellharbour Square can keep you browsing for hours. Head north to Wollongong for some fine dining or to take in a show.
Windang accommodation ranges from the holiday park to cosy holiday homes tucked in with the locals. This is a great place to slow right down or to base yourself for adventures further north or south.
