THE LOCATION
Coalcliff, only 1 hour 15 minutes from Sydney CBD, offers both a sea and mountain getaway with a 500m beach on one side and the towering escarpment ridge behind. First discovered by shipwreck survivors, the coal on its cliffs proved to be their salvation, thus giving rise to the name. A few days here at one of the most distinctive Coalcliff holiday rentals may well prove to be your salvation as well! A serene coastal neighbourhood, this is a place to escape time, stress and traffic and be consumed by the raw natural beauty of the landscape. When you are ready for a faster pace, head to the Sea Cliff Bridge, Scarborough Pub and the hubs at Austinmer or Thirroul for some shopping, coffee and people watching.
For those with kids, the Coalciff beach is patrolled has an ocean rock pool with a children's pool attached. There is also a swing set at Leeder Park adjacent to the beach. Be sure to check out the Thong tree at the end of Paterson Road where the coasts lost thongs have found a home. Alternatively, head to the Bombie Bar (located in the Coalcliff Surf Club) which hosts live music concerts on alternate Sundays during summer, and attracts well-known local, national and international performers.
