A little known and hard to pronounce gem along the coastline Woonona (pronounced woo-noo-nah) offers a stunning beach and ocean pool set well away from the bustling hub and without the crowds. A day in Woonona starts with a coffee and egg and bacon roll from North Break Café before taking a long walk on its deserted beach. Set up camp at the ocean pool or the shallows on either side for kids sized entertainment that lasts all day. A tip though is to head to the beach early as the wind tends to pick up after midday. The greasy spoon local fish shop answers the craving calls for hot chips after a day on the beach or take a leisurely walk to Bulli for more options. Mount your bikes for an easy 9km ride to Wollongong for some evening entertainment and hop on the train to get home with ease. Up away from the beach, the village offers a range of shops, services and a supermarket when you are ready to face the real world. Be sure to stop in at All and Sundry for great coffee and food, Buddy Thai does fantastically well-priced food while Pai Tong Thai enjoys great reviews and a lovely atmosphere if you are after a sit-down meal Samara’s offers excellent Lebanese food. Our Woonona accommodation is on the doorstep to all these spoils.
